Prepaid card provider Netspend, a division of TSYS Inc., is going beyond cards to help its customers improve their lives. The company offers scholarships to its cardholders to help them further their education, with a goal of helping them improve their financial situations. Since the Scholarship Program was established in 2016, more than 150 scholarships worth over $350,000 have been awarded, the company said in a press release. This year it has awarded 105 scholarships, totaling almost $250,000. In the latest episode of the Power of Prepaid Podcast, NBPCA’s COO Ben Jackson talks with Beth Deck, Netspend’s Senior Vice President of Accounting and Finance and Whitney Pocoroba, Customer Insights Manager and Manager of the Scholarship. They cover how cardholders apply for and use the scholarships, and they take a look at the history and scope of the program. The Scholarship program is an example of how prepaid card programs make a difference in the lives of cardholders. While many organizations, agencies, and even some companies talk about helping people improve their lives, the Netspend Scholarship program is another example of how prepaid cards are creating changes.
