The Innovative Payments Association (IPA) has released its 2023 Annual Report, showcasing a year of advocacy, industry collaboration, and continued support for innovation across the payments ecosystem.
Throughout 2023, the IPA worked to advance policies that promote financial inclusion, consumer choice, and responsible innovation. The report highlights the association's engagement on key issues including earned wage access (EWA), open banking, interchange fees, gift card legislation, and emerging regulatory developments affecting banks, fintechs, and payment providers. The report also reviews the IPA's efforts to combat fraud, provide industry education, and amplify the voice of the payments sector through media outreach, regulatory engagement, and member-driven advocacy. In addition, it highlights the success of the Innovative Payments Conference and the association's ongoing work to bring together stakeholders from across the payments value chain. As policymakers and regulators continue to examine the future of financial services, the IPA remains committed to helping shape a regulatory environment that supports innovation while protecting consumers and strengthening the payments ecosystem. The Innovative Payments Association (IPA) and The Money Services Business Association (MSBA) are working together to drive the industry forward by expanding the reach of the Innovative Payments Conference (IPC), which will be held May 5-7 in Washington, D.C. “The rapid evolution of the payments industry, driven by technological advancements and evolving consumer demands, calls for a collaborative approach to shaping the future of payments,” said IPA President and CEO Brian Tate. “By teaming up with the MSBA, we will broaden our perspective and engage in discussions that will cultivate a greater understanding of the inner workings of the entire payments value chain.” Since 2013, the IPA has hosted the IPC to unite industry leaders, explore innovations, and address compliance, legislative, and regulatory issues. In 2024, the MSBA will help form a combined agenda addressing the interests of both IPA and MSBA members as well as other Industry companies. “We are excited to collaborate with our good friends at the IPA on the Innovative Payments Conference, a valuable resource for educating and empowering payments professionals,” said Kathy Tomasofsky, Executive Director of the MSBA. “This partnership will offer the opportunity for our members, along with IPA members, to engage in thought-provoking discussions and network with leaders from all corners of the payments industry.” The conference will focus on providing information for navigating the ever-evolving regulatory landscape, which requires a collective response at both the state and federal levels.
