Information provided to members by OGR.
With the midterm elections approaching, Washington is entering a compressed and closely watched stretch of the congressional calendar. Lawmakers are balancing remaining legislative business with time back in their states and districts, while several significant policy issues remain on the agenda. In the Senate, attention is focused on advancing pending legislation and processing judicial and executive branch nominations. The chamber has moved forward with consideration of the Protect College Sports Act (S. 4668), with senators voting 77-22 last week to proceed to the legislation. Additional action on the bill is expected as the Senate returns this week. The broader congressional agenda also extends beyond the immediate pre-election period. Lawmakers will face several major items when they return following the elections, including annual defense legislation, appropriations and other unfinished legislative business. With limited floor time remaining before the election, the timing and sequencing of congressional action will continue to be important for organizations following federal policy developments. The Innovative Payments Association continues to keep members informed about developments in Washington that could affect the payments industry. IPA members receive the full OGR Washington update each week, providing additional insight into congressional activity, policy developments and what to watch in the days ahead. Comments are closed.
