Description: Standardizing around a file format is the easiest and most cost efficient method to improving your graphics workflow efficiency. This IPA webinar explores the value of standardizing on a file format and version for job submissions. We examine the advantages of standardizing on a predictable, stable, file delivery format while gaining an understanding of common problems and customers concerns when submitting files. We closely examine how to internally train staff members about creating final files from common desktop applications and define PDF, PDF/X, and the Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG) specifications including a discussion of picking the right PDF/X flavor for specific end uses.

Specific topics include:

  • Understanding revenue protection by reducing output errors
  • Achieving workflow efficiencies by reduced processing time
  • Top 10 list of supplied file problems
  • Review PDF settings when creating and/or checking a final file
  • Understanding software and copyrights for fonts
  • Understanding the limitations of standard file formats
  • Review of the Ghent workgroup specifications (PDF/X Plus)
  • Know how to pick the right PDF/X flavor
